Crawler

Kilian has really started moving.  He loves being able to crawl to a toy or Mommy and Daddy's feet.  He has also learned to pull him self up and is very good at knocking everything off the coffee table. We are going to have to start putting everything up higher.

Heart Breaker

Our little "heart breaker" on Valentines Day 2013.

Last night (February 13th), we noticed his first tooth starting to poke through.  Fingers crossed that he doesn't get too fussy.  Right now we letting him eat frozen peas to hopefully soothe his gums.

37 weeks

So lately I have been really bad at posting and I have a million good excuses, of which the main one is that I’m not overly keen to sit in front of a computer at any point right now ;).

But here is a quick update for everyone…

I am one day shy of 37 weeks, which is considered full term: woo hoo!  The baby should now be around 19 inches long (48.26 cm) and a little over 6 lbs (2.7 kg).  Apparently it is the size of a winter squash.  Last week it was a honeydew melon and next week is it a pumpkin.  I am starting to think the fruit comparisons are no longer helpful as I have never seen a winter squash and have seen a lot of different sized pumpkins!

I now have a doctor’s appointment every week to see how I am progressing.  At 36 weeks I was 1 cm dilated and the baby head was "very low". As of today, I am now 1-2 cms dilated and 80-90% effaced.   What this means is that I could have this baby any day, but it I could still make it to my due date, so now it is just a waiting game – so much for modern day medicine being able to predict stuff!  To be honest I don't really have the patience anymore and I hope this baby comes sooner rather than later.  I know Cookie-D's mom and dad are both very excited to meet him/her and I can't wait to know the sex of the baby and give it a name!

Oh, and we also found ourselves a new addition to our garden... Sammy the Snake (not the one from Phoenix Nights)

Want to take a guess?

Since we are not finding out the sex of Cookie-D there are many different things that people can guess: sex, weight, length, etc., and most importantly when Cookie-D will be born?  We thought it would be fun to let everyone have a guess.

A few things that people have asked for when guessing are as follows:

  • The baby’s heart beat has been just below 150 the past several appointments.
  • I believe I am carrying both high and low!  But here is a picture from the 30 and 31 weeks so you can make up your own mind...

Now if you are coming to find out how things are progressing, here are a few new details.  I believe Cookie-D has Arthur's activity level.  There seems to always be movement going on and most of the time it is a sharp movement like a hit or kick, which has made watching my belly move fun, but very strange.  Cookie-D is now approximately the size of four navel oranges or one pineapple.   At 31 weeks the weight is around 3.3lbs (1.5kg) and length is 16inches (40.6cm).

The biggest news we have received lately is my little brother's son, James Peter Watz, was born on April 25, 2012.  Both mom and baby are doing well.  Here are a few pictures!
